At Meadows we want to empower our children to become active global citizens, and use the Eco-Schools global programme to achieve this. Our Eco Council is always busy, meeting regularly to discuss important problems around our school and in the wider world. These could be issues that the children have noticed, or those raised by parents and teachers. We begin the year by reviewing the ten Eco School topics with our classes (marine, biodiversity, energy, litter, waste, water, school grounds, healthy living, transport, global citizenship). Once we have decided which issues to focus on, we talk to our classes to see what ideas they can come up with to help. We collect these ideas and bring them back to the next council meeting to decide on our next actions. Thanks to everyone’s hard work we were awarded our 6th Eco Schools Green Flag in July 2019.
