Climate Action
At Meadows First school, we believe that caring for the environment is a shared responsibility and an essential part of preparing young people for the future. Our Climate Action Plan outlines the steps we are taking to reduce our environmental impact, enrich learning, and empower pupils to become confident, informed, and proactive global citizens.
Working in Partnership with Eco‑Schools
We are proud to be part of the Eco‑Schools programme, a globally recognised environmental education initiative that has empowered young people to take action since 1994. Eco‑Schools provides a clear, structure to enable pupils to take a leading role in improving sustainability within the school and wider community.
Through Eco‑Schools, our children engage with the Eco‑Schools topics, such as biodiversity, energy, waste, water, and school grounds. These themes help break down big global issues into manageable and meaningful actions that pupils can take in their everyday lives. The programme encourages a whole‑school, inclusive approach, involving pupils, staff, families, and local partners.
Our Climate Action Plan
Our school’s Climate Action Plan sets out a long‑term commitment to environmental responsibility. It aligns closely with Eco‑Schools guidance and recognised best practice in UK school sustainability.
Why This Matters
Schools across the UK play an important role in tackling climate and nature challenges. By embedding sustainability into daily practice, teaching, and decision‑making, schools can model positive behaviour and inspire change in families, local organisations, and the wider community.
Through our Climate Action Plan and partnership with Eco‑Schools, we are committed to building a culture where sustainability is part of who we are — ensuring that every child understands their role in protecting our planet, both now and in the future.
