Year 1 have been learning about the women of Gee's Bend, Alabama who make quilts from recycled materials, initially to keep themselves warm in their unheated shacks.
The quilts have been described as some of the most miraculous works of modern art America has produced.
We designed our own abstract squares using iron on fabric paint to be made into a class 'quilt'.
