In order to answer the question Do gases have mass? we investigated whether fizzy lemonade is heavier than flat lemonade.

We weighed bottles of fizzy lemonade and then shook them and released the gas.

We then reweighed the bottles. and found that they were lighter.

Although gas is very light, it still has mass.

The fizzy lemonade, which contains carbon dioxide gas, is therefore heavier than the flat lemonade.
